As a nation, we’re working towards the goal of net zero carbon by 2050. At National Grid, we’re committed to helping Britain reach this target by building a cleaner, greener energy system. But we can’t do this alone. We're looking for people who are brimming with enthusiasm and bursting with ideas to help us build and run a cleaner energy system for the future. Are you up for the challenge?

We’re looking for a passionate Finance Assistant – Credit Control to join our UK Procure to Pay and O2C. An opportunity has arisen within the Invoicing & Recoveries team, based at Pegasus for a Finance Assistant in the Credit Control Team. You will be responsible for the collection of all non-DUoS receivables within NGED.

This role is based out of our Castle Donnington office, and you will be expected to work initially in the office Monday - Friday. Once a successful training period has been completed, hybrid working option will become available. This will need to be discussed and agreed with the Manager. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
