Finance Assistant (6-month FTC)

Do you enjoy bringing order to numbers, spotting discrepancies before they become problems, and helping a finance team keep everything running smoothly? If so, this Finance Assistant opportunity with Lomond Group could be exactly what you're looking for. Based in Edinburgh, reporting to the Finance Business Partner, and offering a salary of £28,000-£32,000, this 6-month fixed-term contract also provides the flexibility of working from home two days per week.

As one of the UK's leading property services groups, Lomond Group relies on strong financial processes to support its growing portfolio of brands and operations. In this role, you'll play an important part in keeping financial records accurate, supporting month-end activities, maintaining key reconciliations, and providing valuable support to colleagues across the business.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Support the timely production of monthly management accounts and month-end processes
  • Post month-end journals, including accruals and prepayments, to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances to maintain the integrity of financial information
  • Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring additions, disposals and depreciation are accurately recorded
  • Support the review of accrued income and work with branches to validate outstanding transactions
  • Perform daily and weekly bank reconciliations to ensure financial records remain up to date
  • Reconcile debtor and creditor balances, resolving discrepancies and ensuring appropriate supporting documentation is in place
  • Review supplier payment runs, process payments and help resolve supplier queries efficiently
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly VAT returns and support compliance activities
  • Act as a key finance contact for colleagues and external stakeholders, responding to queries relating to invoices, payments and financial information

What You'll Need

  • Experience working within a finance environment or a similar finance-focused role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
  • Experience using administrative systems and following established processes
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately across multiple priorities
  • An understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
