Finance Assistant | Foudys
đ Manchester đ Part time, permanent
About Foudys
Foudys is the home of womenâs football.
Weâre a growing football retailer and community built specifically around the womenâs game, bringing together shirts, merchandise, players, clubs and fans from across the world of womenâs football.
As the business continues to grow across retail, e-commerce and partnerships, the finance function behind it needs to grow too.
Weâre now looking for a part-qualified Finance Assistant to join the team and take ownership of the day-to-day finances of the business.
About the role
This is a brilliant opportunity for someone early in their finance career who wants more than a role where theyâre responsible for one tiny part of the accounts process.
Working directly with our CEO and alongside our outsourced accountancy partner, youâll get exposure across the finance function, from sales and purchase ledger through to payroll, VAT, cash flow and month-end.
Youâll be trusted to take ownership of your area, keep our financial information accurate and up to date, and spot things that need attention before somebody has to ask.
Weâre growing quickly, so we need someone who is comfortable getting stuck in, asking questions and figuring things out.
What youâll be doing
Sales ledger & credit control
- Raise customer invoices and credit notes
- Monitor outstanding balances and proactively manage credit control
- Resolve customer account queries and discrepancies
- Keep clear records of outstanding debts and regularly update the CEO
- Have confident and professional conversations with customers when payments need chasing
Purchase ledger & suppliers
- Processing and recording supplier invoices
- Preparing supplier payments in line with agreed terms
- Reconciling supplier statements
- Investigating discrepancies and outstanding items
- Building good relationships with our key suppliers

Iâm in my final year doing Economics and I donât know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer â it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) donât need a masters. Letâs look at the ones youâd be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet â that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
Graduate Consultant â 2026 Scheme
Why you're a good match
StrongYour economics background and your summer at a regional bank line up with what PwC looks for on the consulting scheme. Applications close in four weeks.
See breakdownIt searches the market for you
Every day your agent scans the market matching roles against what actually matters to you, not just keywords on a CV.
Why you're a good match
Youâve got the grades and the economics background, and your bank internship is exactly the experience this scheme looks for. Apply soon â deadlines close within the month.
Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme â client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right â and where to focus when applying.
Youâll also take ownership of supplier credits, making sure returns, rebates, credit notes and other adjustments are properly reconciled and identifying any outstanding money owed back to Foudys.
Payroll & expenses
- Support the people side of finance too.
- Prepare and process payroll, manage employee expenses and maintain accurate records for starters, leavers and contractual changes.
- Support with pensions and employment administration, including preparing employment contracts and associated documentation.
VAT & compliance
- Youâll prepare our VAT returns and make sure we have accurate supporting records in place.
- Where something doesnât look right, youâll investigate it, and for more complex accounting or VAT queries youâll work alongside our outsourced accountants to get them resolved.
Cash flow
- This is where the role becomes particularly important to the wider business.
- Youâll maintain our cash-flow forecast and give the CEO a clear picture of whatâs coming in, whatâs going out and what financial commitments are ahead.
- We want someone who can spot potential pressures or risks early and raise them, rather than simply reporting what has already happened.
Month-end & year-end
- Working alongside our outsourced accountancy partner, youâll help make sure everything is ready for monthly management accounts and year-end.
- Youâll complete reconciliations, prepare supporting information, respond to queries and help investigate anything that doesnât add up.
- Over time, youâll develop a really strong understanding of how Foudys is performing financially and help provide the information the wider business needs to make good commercial decisions.
About you
Weâre looking for someone who is part-qualified or currently studying towards a finance qualification, such as AAT, ACCA, CIMA or ACA.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
You donât need to have done absolutely everything on this list already. What matters is that you have a solid grounding in finance and youâre ready to take on more responsibility.
Weâd love to meet someone who:
- Has hands-on experience with sales and/or purchase ledger
- Understands the basics of payroll and VAT
- Is comfortable with reconciliations and enjoys getting to the bottom of discrepancies
- Has some exposure to month-end processes
- Is confident using accounting software and Excel
- Has excellent attention to detail
- Can manage deadlines without needing to be constantly chased
- Is comfortable picking up the phone to customers or suppliers when something needs resolving
- Takes ownership and follows things through
- Is commercially curious and wants to understand what the numbers actually mean for the business
- Is comfortable working in a growing company where things can move quickly
Most importantly, we want someone proactive. If something doesn't look right, you'll question it. If a payment is overdue, you'll chase it. If the numbers are telling us something important, you'll flag it.
Why Foudys?
Youâll be joining a growing business at a stage where you can have a genuine impact on how things are done.
Rather than sitting within a huge finance department, youâll work closely with senior leadership and get exposure to a broad range of financial and commercial responsibilities.
For someone building their finance career, thereâs a lot to get your teeth into.
And youâll be doing it within a business helping to build the future of womenâs football.
If youâre part-qualified, commercially curious and ready to take real ownership of your next finance role, weâd love to hear from you.
