Hays Accountancy & Finance are exclusively partnering with a growing and established financial services group to recruit a dynamic and driven Finance Assistant, to join their accounting function in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
Your new role
A progressive permanent accounting role where you will assist the Finance Manager by preparing journals, reconciliations and reports, invoicing processes through to treasury support.
Your key duties will involve maintaining accounting records, preparing/processing journals and reference data onto the ledger, reconciling balance sheet items, along with issuing sales invoices/statements. You will monitor and resolve outstanding balances, settle payments, monitor cash movement, banking processes, along with cash analysis and assisting with preparing forecasts. You will be involved in accruals, prepayments, depreciations and allocations, along with supporting management accounts reports as you develop in the role. You will support the Finance Manager and wider accounting team in ad-hoc duties and projects.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this varied Finance Assistant role, you will need some experience in a similar position, willing to learn with a customer-focused approach. You will be able to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines, key communication skills to build internal/external relationships, along with being a team player with a professional/positive attitude. You will have to be adaptable to organisational needs with high attention to detail. You will have key MS Excel skills and be comfortable using a variety of financial systems. Ideally, you will be studying for AAT/ACCA/CIMA or AAT qualified. Candidates qualified by experience will be considered. Experience within the insurance or financial services sectors, along with knowledge of SUN accounting system would be advantageous but not essential.

This permanent Finance Assistant role offers a salary up to £30,000 per annum and up to 10% annual bonus, depending on experience based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.
