Finance Assistant - Purchase Ledger (Based in Exeter)

Bournemouth Airport is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our Finance team who are based at Exeter Airport on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is a great opportunity for someone with a keen eye for accuracy and a professional approach to join a busy finance department. The successful candidate will provide an efficient and timely accounting service, with particular responsibility for the Purchase Ledger function.

The Role

As Finance Assistant, you will support the day-to-day running of the purchase ledger, working with colleagues and suppliers to ensure purchase orders, invoices, and payments are processed accurately and on time.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Raising purchase orders from appropriately approved requisitions and distributing them to suppliers.
• Receiving, logging, and processing supplier invoices in accordance with company procedures.
• Matching invoices to purchase orders and checking coding, charges, and VAT for accuracy.
• Preparing payment reports for authorisation and processing supplier payments by BACS and cheque.
• Issuing remittance advices and responding to supplier queries regarding payments.
• Setting up new supplier accounts and maintaining accurate supplier information within the finance system.
• Obtaining and maintaining supplier contracts and associated records.
• Reconciling supplier accounts to statements and resolving any discrepancies.
• Maintaining accurate and organised financial records and filing systems.
• Supporting month-end processes, including purchase accruals and prepayment reconciliations.
• Undertaking other finance and administrative duties as required to support the effective operation of the department.
