Hays is delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a well-established care home organisation for a Finance Assistant to join their friendly and supportive finance team in Batley. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the early stages of their finance career who has some existing accounts experience and is looking to further develop their skills within a stable and rewarding sector. You will play a key part in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business.

Permanent Finance Assistant
Full-time or Part-Time hours considered (30hrs+)
Based Fully on-site in Batley
Paying up to £28,000 - depending on experience

Your new role

Working as part of the finance team, you'll support a range of transactional finance activities to help ensure accurate financial records are maintained. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Processing employee expenses and ensuring timely reimbursement
  • Managing company credit card transactions and reconciliations
  • Maintaining and reconciling petty cash records
  • Assisting with the accurate recording of financial transactions
  • Investigating and resolving discrepancies where required
  • Supporting colleagues across the finance function
  • Ensuring financial information is processed accurately and on time
  • Helping maintain strong financial controls and procedures

What you'll need to succeed

We're keen to speak with candidates who have some previous finance or accounts experience and are looking to continue building their career within a supportive environment. Ideally, you'll have:

  • Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or similar role
  • Experience completing bank reconciliations
  • Good attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • A proactive and positive attitude towards learning
  • Confidence using Microsoft Excel and finance systems
  • Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach
  • The ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines

Desirable but not essential:

  • Experience working within a care home, healthcare or similar environment as part of the finance function.
  • A finance qualification or studying towards AAT
