Role: Finance Assistant

Contract Type: Permanent / Full-Time

Location: Wellbar Central, Newcastle upon Tyne | Hybrid Working

About the Role:

We are looking for a Finance Assistant to join our Finance team within Hargreaves Land. Reporting to the Management Accountant, you'll play an important role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business, helping to maintain strong financial controls, ensure accurate financial records and support the smooth running of cash collection and payment processes.

This is a varied position offering exposure across multiple areas of finance, providing an excellent opportunity for someone looking to further develop their skills within a busy and supportive finance team.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Supporting the Management Accountant and wider Finance team with a range of financial and administrative activities.
  • Preparing and maintaining bank reconciliations.
  • Managing sales administration activities, including raising internal and external invoices and producing debtor reports.
  • Assisting with month-end processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, accounts preparation and financial analysis.
  • Carrying out ad hoc reconciliations and investigations as required.
  • Supporting the purchase ledger function, including payment processing and resolving supplier queries.
  • Ensuring financial transactions are accurately coded, recorded and maintained.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes and procedures.

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience working within a finance function.
  • A good understanding of accounting principles, processes and procedures.
  • Experience working across different areas of a finance team.
  • Previous experience using accounting software.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience of month-end procedures and reconciliations.
  • Experience preparing or assisting with month-end accounts.
