The opportunity
TSR Legal are delighted to be supporting a well-established law firm in Cardiff with the appointment of a Finance Assistant to join its busy and collaborative Finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their career within finance and gain valuable experience within the legal sector.
You will work as part of the Finance team, supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the firm and working closely with fee earners, legal executives, and senior management.
The Role
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Processing and matching supplier invoices
- Assisting with purchase ledger administration and payment runs
- Helping to resolve supplier statement queries
- Supporting general bookkeeping and day-to-day accounting tasks
- Assisting with bank reconciliations
- Processing employee expenses and maintaining accurate records
- Inputting and monitoring financial information across relevant systems
- Supporting client account transactions and ensuring procedures are followed correctly
- Assisting with payroll administration where required
- Working closely with colleagues across the firm to ensure financial processes are accurate and efficient
- Maintaining confidentiality when dealing with sensitive financial information
- Providing general administrative support to the wider Finance team

About You
We are looking for someone who is organised, numerate, and keen to develop a career within finance.
Previous finance or accounts experience would be beneficial, but is not essential. This role could suit someone with transferable administrative experience who is looking to move into a finance-focused position.
You Will Ideally Have
- Good attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Strong organisational skills
- The ability to manage your workload and prioritise tasks
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- A willingness to learn new systems and processes
- A professional and discreet approach when handling confidential information
- A positive and collaborative attitude

Previous experience within a law firm, knowledge of client accounts, SRA Accounts Rules, or payroll would be advantageous, but full training can be provided.
