This is a permanent full-time (37.5 hours per week) role.
Finance Associate:
The role will support the Finance Operations Manager and Senior Finance Associate with day-to-day financial administration, system updates, reconciliations, reporting and wider operational improvements.
Full training will be provided, so previous legal finance experience is not essential. The successful candidate will be highly organised, accurate and eager to learn.
You will enjoy working with systems and data, be comfortable using Microsoft Office, and have a general interest in how technology, including AI and automation, may support more efficient ways of working in the future.
The key duties include:
- Support the Finance Operations team with a broad range of financial administration tasks, with training provided across core processes.
- Assist with the maintenance of the firm’s purchase ledger and supplier records.
- Help raise electronic payments, post receipts and support reconciliations of the firm’s bank accounts.
- Post financial transactions to the firm’s accounting systems, including invoices, disbursements and client money transfers.
- Support the administration of the firm’s expenses system, including checking, coding and posting staff claims.
- Provide timely updates to fee earners and colleagues on money transactions and finance queries.
- Maintain incoming cheque log.
- Maintain petty cash accounting records.
- Receiving card payments from clients.
- Review accounting information for accuracy and escalate any queries or discrepancies for guidance.
- Support end-of-day checks, reconciliations and balance reviews.
- Provide credit control support when required.
- Develop confidence using accounting systems, online banking platforms and workflow tools.
- To provide general assistance in the absence of other team members, to include holiday and sickness cover.
- To possess a flexible approach in providing support to other team members dependent upon capacity.
- Assist with invoice processing.
- Show an interest in how systems, AI or automation may help support efficient and accurate ways of working.
- Contribute ideas where appropriate and be open to learning about new digital ways of working.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
