Tl;dr

Tilt is at the forefront of commerce, building a net-new way to buy and sell online. As we scale our systems and sharpen how we plan, report and budget, we're hiring a Finance Associate to sit at the centre of the finance function.

This is a rare opportunity for someone who wants more than a transactional finance job. You'll get direct exposure to board and investor materials and the decisions founders are making day-to-day, and a real hand in building the function as we grow.

About Tilt 🛸

Tilt’s mission is simple: Make Commerce Alive.

From static store website builders to impersonal marketplaces, today's ecosystem is aging fast. It was built for transactional experiences, not for the new generation of merchants who grow through attention, community and personality.

In the UK alone, millions of shoppers, from sneakerheads and Y2K girlies to collectors and parents, have signed up to Tilt. Our platform has helped sellers go from zero to £1M+ in earnings, and hundreds more earn above the UK median income.

And we are just getting started.

Your Mission 🫵

You'll sit at the centre of the finance function as Tilt scales: the systems, the reporting, the budgets, everything else runs on. Regular visibility with the founders comes with it.

This isn't a transactional finance job. You'll own the financial data that everything else gets built on - which means you shape how leadership sees the business, too. What the numbers mean. Where the risks sit. Where the opportunities are.

You'll get exposure most associate-level finance roles don't offer: input into board and investor materials, a direct line to the decisions founders are making, and real ownership over how the function is built from here.

What You'll Do 🛠️

In your first 0–3 months

  • Get fluent in the ledger and core transaction reconciliations. Own the day-to-day accuracy so leadership can trust the numbers they're working from
  • Support statutory and management reporting, Accounts Payable processing, and regulatory compliance
  • Start contributing to ad-hoc analyses that feed directly into business decisions

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

In 3+ months and beyond

  • Help prepare materials for leadership, board, and investor conversations. See first-hand how finance shapes company direction
  • Bring a point of view to the numbers: flag trends, risks, and opportunities proactively, not just report what happened
  • Work across departmental teams (product, growth, marketing, operations) as finance's connective tissue, translating data into recommendations non-finance stakeholders can act on
  • Take on increasing scope as you build context. This is a role designed to grow with the person in it

Who You Are 👋

You've worked in finance, accounting, or FP&A long enough to know your way around a ledger and a reconciliation, not just the reports that come out the other end. You're commercially curious. You want to know why the numbers move, not just record them, and you're motivated by being close to how a business actually runs.

  • Prior experience in a finance, accounting, or FP&A-adjacent role. Marketplace, e-commerce, fintech, or fast-growing startup experience is a strong plus
  • Working SQL proficiency: comfortable writing queries to pull, join, and reconcile data across systems. This is a hands-on data role. A meaningful share of the work is querying and reconciling transaction-level data directly, not just working from pre-built reports
  • Substantial proficiency in Excel
  • Detail-oriented and dependable with the fundamentals: the strategic work only works if the underlying data is trustworthy
  • A confident communicator who's comfortable in a room with senior stakeholders, not just behind a spreadsheet. You'll get direct support as you build the context to run those conversations independently

Nice to have

  • A prior stint in investment banking, private equity, or management consulting
  • Hands-on experience with Xero (or similar cloud accounting software), Snowflake or another SQL data warehouse, and/or Stripe/Stripe Connect
  • Exposure to marketplace, two-sided platform, or multi-currency/multi-market businesses. Familiarity with GMV, take-rate, or cohort-based metrics is a plus
  • Familiarity with both GAAP and IFRS accounting standards
  • AAT qualified, or studying towards ACA/ACCA/CIMA
  • Prior experience supporting external audits
