Purpose
The Finance Business Analyst plays a critical role in delivering finance business partnering to our IT department (Biztech) and taking responsibility for both financial control and reporting of a Business Transformation Program (“Optimus”), as well as providing support on “business as usual” expenditure. They will be the key point of contact in Finance for the General Manager for Business Transformation and Technology, ensuring that the costs of the project are thoroughly understood and monitored from both a revenue and capital expenditure perspective and are classified in the Financial Statements in accordance with IFRS (cloud computing costs). They have specific responsibility for the preparation and filing of the annual PAYE settlement agreement and production of monthly management accounts for HQ along with associated budgets and forecasts.
Key Responsibilities
Optimus:
- Responsibility for reviewing postings and calculating accruals.
- Production of monthly dashboards together with clear variance explanations.
- Responsibility for preparing project forecasts and budgets and for delivery to senior stakeholders.
- Attendance and active participation in Steering Committee Meetings and monthly meetings with the PWC IPA team.
- Continuous consideration/assessment and communication of business case in conjunction with key stakeholders.
- Tracking and quantifying project benefits.
- Consideration of the impact of the project on the Group’s current transfer pricing model for service charges and appropriate enhancement in conjunction with the ABF International tax department.
- Support senior stakeholders in setting targets for Global Process Owners to manage the cost of their teams.
- Support senior stakeholders in deciding and defining SAP Application Management Services (AMS).

Biztech business Partnering:
- Working closely with the General Manager – Business Transformation and Technology, Director of Technology and other colleagues within the Biztech team, responsibility for monitoring, control and reporting of overhead costs for 2 Biztech cost centres.
R Twining and Company Limited Employment tax ownership:
- Calculation of the annual PSA return with specific responsibility for:
- Review of travel, subsistence, entertaining and accommodation expenses to ensure gross up and payment of tax where costs incurred are not wholly and exclusively for business purposes.
- Assessment of staff entertaining costs and application of the annual function exemption.
- Assessment of Medical and dental expenses.
- Assessment of relocation costs (and monitoring of annual exemptions for qualifying costs).
- Assessment of gifts/incentives/recognition awards and application of the trivial benefit exemption.
- Assessment of professional subscriptions.
- Assessment of tax return preparation benefits.
- Review of commuting costs and the company’s practice reference the establishment of permanent workplaces.
- Completion of annual SAO questionnaire for Employment tax and implementation of associated actions.
HQ overheads reporting:
- Responsibility for budgeting/forecasting and reporting HQ overheads:
- Preparation of deck for Finance budget review and supporting Senior Managers in delivering.
- Consolidation of HQ overheads across all departments for review by Senior Management.
- Explanation of all key variances forecast to forecast and actual vs budgets and forecasts.
- Reporting and reconciling HQ forecast/budgets in PAL (overhead cube and profit and loss account).
- Responsibility for Actual HQ overhead reporting:
- Reporting and reconciling HQ Actuals in PAL (overhead cube and profit and loss account).
- Compilation and distribution of reports to senior management.

General:
- Participation in the preparation and distribution of the monthly financial results podcast.
- Support role in the Capital Expenditure process. Focal point for the SharePoint site for CAPEX approvals; review and monitor the progress of CEFs through the approval process.
- Provision of cover for members of the Group reporting team, working with Group Analysts in driving and progressing the Business’s project agenda and with the provision of general accounting support.
- Responsibility for supply of solution to ABF for inter-company imbalances.
- Approvals in the Vendor on-boarding process to ensure SOD compliance.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified Accountant – ACA/ACCA/CIMA.
- Practice background & FMCG sector experience an advantage.
- Good technical accounting knowledge and employment tax knowledge an advantage.
- SAP knowledge (or ERP system) an advantage.
- Advanced Excel.
- Ambitious and enjoys learning and progressing.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and resilience when dealing with different stakeholders.
- Analytically minded.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
