I am recruiting for a large international financial services organisation seeking a Finance Business Analyst to support a major core banking transformation programme. This is a hands-on role focused on analysing, mapping, and reconciling financial data as services are migrated from a legacy core banking platform into strategic target systems. The successful candidate will combine strong business analysis skills with financial data expertise, SQL capabilities, and a solid understanding of banking products.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst within Banking or Financial Services environments.
- Strong knowledge of banking products including Trade Finance, FX, Money Markets, Derivatives, Loans, and Treasury products.
- Solid understanding of finance and accounting principles, including financial reporting, trial balances, debits and credits, retained earnings, reconciliations, and period-end processes.
- Proven experience in finance data analysis, data mapping, and data validation.
- Experience working with data across multiple systems and understanding how information translates between different platforms and reporting environments.
- Hands-on involvement in data migration, transformation, integration, or large-scale change programmes.
- Ability to analyse large data extracts and identify data quality, control, and reconciliation issues.
- Strong SQL skills for data interrogation, analysis, and extraction.
- Experience working closely with developers and technical teams to define data requirements and support data extraction activities.
- Strong requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to engage effectively with both business and technical stakeholders, including senior Finance and Technology teams.
- Ability to work independently and deliver within fast-paced project environments.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
