About the Role
Based at our Walsall office and offering the flexibility for hybrid working, as a Finance Business Partner, you will partner with our commercial team to turn financial and operational information into clear, actionable insight. You will identify risks and opportunities, constructively challenge assumptions and help teams achieve their performance targets and strategic objectives.
This is a broad and influential business-partnering role. You will embed yourself within the areas you support, building trusted relationships and providing the financial guidance, commercial challenge and independent perspective needed to assess opportunities and make confident, well-informed decisions.
Key Responsibilities
With autonomy and trust to make an impact from day one, you will:
- Develop a deep understanding of the business, its strategic priorities and the operational and commercial factors that influence performance.
- Build strong relationships across the organisation and become a trusted financial partner to senior leaders and operational teams.
- Provide supportive but constructive challenge, helping stakeholders navigate competing priorities and agree the best course of action.
- Represent Finance at senior management and strategic meetings, presenting clear, focused and actionable insight.
- Translate complex financial information into accessible recommendations that enable timely, well-informed decisions.
- Lead a consistent and appropriately challenging weekly, monthly and quarterly performance-review process.
- Deliver high-quality analysis that moves beyond reporting what has happened, instead explaining why it has happened and what action should follow.
- Lead robust budgeting, forecasting and financial-planning processes for your areas of responsibility.
- Support the development of meaningful category-level profit and loss reporting across relevant income and cost lines.
- Develop financial models and business cases for strategic plans, investments and commercial opportunities.
- Lead post-investment reviews to identify what worked, what did not and why, using the findings to improve future decisions and, where appropriate, reset expectations or recommend corrective action.
- Continually improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of financial reporting and performance reviews.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
