Finance Business Partner (6-Month FTC with Strong Potential to Go Permanent)

East Central Scotland | Hybrid Working | Competitive Salary + Excellent Benefits

Eden Scott is delighted to be partnering with an incredible not-for-profit organisation in East Central Scotland to recruit a Finance Business Partner on an initial 6-month fixed-term contract. With significant investment and exciting plans ahead, there is strong potential for this position to become permanent.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working closely with operational leaders, influencing decision-making and helping organisations maximise their impact through strong financial stewardship.

The Opportunity

Reporting into the senior finance leadership team, you will play a key role in supporting stakeholders across the organisation, providing financial insight, challenge and guidance to support both day-to-day operations and longer-term strategic objectives.

You'll act as a trusted business partner, helping managers understand performance, identify opportunities and make informed decisions. This is a highly visible role that offers exposure across multiple departments and the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with budget holders and senior managers, providing financial guidance and support
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes across designated areas
  • Produce meaningful analysis, commentary and insight to support decision-making
  • Develop financial models, business cases and scenario planning to evaluate opportunities and risks
  • Support the production and review of monthly management information
  • Investigate and explain variances, trends and key performance drivers
  • Help drive continuous improvement across finance processes, reporting and controls
  • Work collaboratively with operational teams to improve financial understanding and accountability
  • Contribute to organisational planning and strategic initiatives
  • Support finance leadership with ad hoc projects and analysis as required

About You

We're keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:

  • PQ or Qual
  • Proven experience in a Finance Business Partner, Commercial Finance or similar role
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial planning experience
  • Experience producing financial models, option appraisals and business cases
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to turn complex financial data into meaningful insights
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the confidence to challenge and influence constructively
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to support strategic decision-making
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with financial systems
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with both finance and non-finance colleagues
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a continuous improvement mindset

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within the not-for-profit, charity or public sector environment
  • Exposure to large or complex organisations
  • Previous involvement in systems improvements, process enhancement or finance transformation projects
  • Experience leading or mentoring colleagues within a finance team
