Who We Are

Institutional Retirement is the only insurer to have been operating continuously in the UK market from our entrance in 1987 to the present day. Our UK retirement annuity book stands at an estimated £86.1 billion at 31 December 2023. Across our retail and institutional retirement businesses, we look after more than 1 million customers, around c.700,000 of whom are institutional customers who have had their retirement benefits secured with us.

Job Description

We’re looking for a Finance Business Partner to join our Institutional Retirement Finance Business Partnering team. You’ll work closely with the Core Capital team, Private Markets Finance and Portfolio Management, providing high-quality financial insight, analysis and challenge to support effective planning, forecasting and reporting.

This is an excellent opportunity to build a detailed understanding of the Core Capital portfolio, develop trusted relationships across the business and help senior stakeholders understand financial performance, risks and opportunities. The role works alongside investment teams to ensure accurate financial representation and alignment but does not involve making investment decisions or managing portfolios.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Partnering with Core Capital, Private Markets Finance and Portfolio Management to support aligned business plans and forecasts
  • Developing a detailed understanding of the Core Capital portfolio, including its performance and risk metrics
  • Analysing financial performance and communicating key risks, opportunities and potential management actions
  • Reviewing and challenging shareholder fund projections and management information to ensure they reflect business and portfolio views
  • Producing Traded portfolio projections, commentary and management information to explain performance and variances
  • Preparing monthly Core Capital liquidity projections and maintaining effective controls across Finance and asset liability management assumptions
  • Coordinating inputs from relevant teams to support accurate and timely Institutional Retirement plans and forecasts
  • Supporting performance reporting, Finance Transformation initiatives and wider project activity across the Business Partnering team

Who We're Looking For:

  • An ACCA, ACA or CIMA qualification, or significant relevant professional experience
  • Strong accounting, financial planning and analysis knowledge, including a sound understanding of IFRS
  • Experience of preparing robust financial information and translating analysis into clear, meaningful insight
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to identify and communicate risks and opportunities
  • Experience of managing competing priorities and delivering high-quality work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including producing commentary for senior and Board-level audiences
  • The ability to build effective relationships, influence constructively and align expectations across multiple teams
  • Advanced Excel capability, with knowledge of private markets accounting, the shareholder fund portfolio, OneStream or Anaplan being advantageous
