Job Description

We are seeking a commercially focused and proactive Finance Business Partner

We are seeking a commercially focused and proactive Finance Business Partner to provide financial insight, analysis, and strategic support across contract operations. The role is responsible for analysing financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and delivering accurate reporting to support informed decision-making.

Working closely with Contract Managers, operational leaders, and clients, you will act as a trusted business partner, providing financial guidance and challenge to drive performance, improve profitability, and ensure compliance with company policies and governance requirements.

This is a highly visible role that combines financial expertise with strong stakeholder management skills. You will be responsible for translating financial information into meaningful business insights, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and influencing operational and strategic decisions.

Key aspects of the role include monitoring financial performance, identifying areas for improvement, evaluating investment opportunities, and developing recommendations that support the achievement of contractual objectives and wider organisational goals.

Through effective business partnering, you will help ensure robust financial control, continuous improvement, and sustainable value creation for both the organisation and its clients.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted Finance Business Partner to Contract Managers and operational leaders, providing financial insight, challenge, and support to drive business performance.
  • Prepare and present timely, accurate financial reports, translating financial information into clear, actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
  • Monitor and maintain the financial health of the contract, ensuring revenue, costs, profitability, and cash flow are effectively managed.
  • Analyse financial performance against budgets, forecasts, and business plans, identifying risks, opportunities, and corrective actions where required.
  • Deliver robust monthly forecasting and support the development and management of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP).
  • Provide detailed analysis of costs, pricing, productivity, and operational performance to support commercial decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and deliver opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and value creation across the contract.
  • Ensure supplier payments are managed in accordance with contractual obligations, company policies, and prompt payment requirements.
  • Develop financial models, trends, and projections to support strategic planning and long-term business objectives.
  • Support internal and external audit requirements, ensuring strong financial controls, governance, and compliance are maintained.
  • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including Operational Managers, Commercial Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Procurement teams, Project Managers, clients, and suppliers.
  • Challenge and influence stakeholders to drive financial accountability, operational excellence, and the achievement of contractual and organisational objectives.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes, controls, reporting, and overall business performance.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
