Southwark, London (Hybrid Working - 2 Days in the Office)

Initial 3-Month Contract | Full Time | Potential for Further Extensions
PAYE Uplifted Rate: £256.63 per day
Umbrella Rate: £334.60 per day

We are currently seeking an experienced Finance Business Partner to join London Fire Brigade on an initial three-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to work closely with senior leaders, providing expert financial support, insight and challenge across a diverse portfolio.

Working in a hybrid environment, you will be based in Southwark for two days per week and work remotely for the remainder of the week.

The Role

As a Finance Business Partner, you will play a key role in supporting strategic and operational decision-making through robust financial management and analysis. You will provide high-quality financial advice to stakeholders, lead on budgeting and forecasting activities, and ensure financial risks and opportunities are clearly identified and managed.

You will be responsible for developing strong relationships across the organisation, translating complex financial information into meaningful insights, and helping drive value for money and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with senior stakeholders to support effective financial planning and decision-making.
  • Lead on budget setting, forecasting and financial monitoring activities.
  • Provide detailed financial analysis, management information and performance reporting.
  • Challenge and support budget holders to ensure sound financial management.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities, proposing appropriate mitigating actions.
  • Support the preparation of business cases and investment proposals.
  • Contribute to month-end and year-end financial processes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, controls and reporting.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Significant experience in a Finance Business Partner, Finance Manager or similar position.
  • A recognised professional accounting qualification (CCAB or equivalent), or significant relevant experience.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial planning expertise.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and business partnering skills.
  • Experience presenting complex financial information to non-financial audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills.
  • Experience working within a large, complex organisation, ideally within the public sector.
