VNI Finance is delighted to be retained by our key manufacturing client in the Glasgow Area to recruit a newly created Finance Business Partner role.

This highly visible role will report directly to the Managing Director and would suit a hands-on, motivated individual keen to build the link between finance and ops. The role will look beyond the monthly results to explain what is happening across costs, margins, stock, and working capital. The role will also lead a small finance team at Head Office.

The successful candidate will likely come from a manufacturing/engineering background.

Role Overview:

  • Partner with operations to understand activity, productivity, costs, and margins, explaining the financial impact of day-to-day decisions.
  • Build and maintain clear performance reporting, using operational and financial measures to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for your areas, testing assumptions with managers and updating the outlook as trading changes.
  • Analyse pricing, customer, and product profitability, and support decisions on commercial terms and resource allocation.
  • Work with colleagues on stock, purchasing, and working capital, improving visibility of movements, variances, and cash implications.
  • Support month-end reporting, reconciliations, and variance analysis, ensuring figures are accurate and commentary is useful to decision-makers.
  • Improve the quality and accessibility of management information, including the use of Excel and reporting systems, and help embed better financial processes.
  • Present findings clearly to non-finance colleagues and follow through with them on agreed actions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
