Finance Business Partner - Transport & Infrastructure - (experience in this service area not essential)
Salary: £47,000 - £52,500 + market supplement
Location: East Midlands (Hybrid Working)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified finance professional to join a growing public sector organisation delivering major transport, infrastructure and economic development programmes across the region.
Working closely with senior leaders and budget holders, you will provide high-quality financial support, challenge and insight to help shape strategic decision-making and ensure effective use of public funds.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted finance partner to senior stakeholders across transport and infrastructure portfolios.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and medium-term financial planning processes.
- Deliver robust financial reporting, analysis and performance monitoring.
- Support the development of business cases, investment proposals and funding submissions.
- Provide financial modelling and appraisal for capital projects and programmes.
- Identify financial risks and opportunities, recommending appropriate actions.
- Promote strong governance, financial control and value-for-money principles.
- Drive continuous improvement across financial processes and reporting.

About You
- CCAB/CIMA qualified accountant (or equivalent).
- Proven Finance Business Partnering experience within a complex organisation.
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and financial planning expertise.
- Experience supporting capital programmes, large-scale projects or infrastructure investment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to influence, challenge and support senior decision-makers.
- Public sector or local government experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Desired Skills and Experience
We're seeking a qualified accountant (CCAB/CIMA/ACCA/CIPFA or equivalent) with strong Finance Business Partnering experience gained within a complex organisation. You'll have expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning and performance reporting, alongside experience supporting capital programmes, infrastructure projects or large-scale investment activity. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent stakeholder management skills, the ability to influence senior leaders, and a proactive approach to driving financial insight, governance and value for money.
