Finance Business Partner

Location: North West / Hybrid
Contract: 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: c.£80k plus 10% retention bonus

The Opportunity

Resourcery Group is working with a high profile, fast paced consumer business to recruit an experienced Commercial Finance Business Partner for a 12 month fixed term contract.

This is a genuinely commercial finance role, sitting close to the heart of the organisation and partnering with senior stakeholders across a key customer-focused area of the business.

Rather than simply reporting the numbers, you will be expected to understand what is driving performance, why it is happening and what the business should do next.

The role will have particular exposure to customer growth, digital marketing investment and the development of new propositions. You will provide the financial insight and constructive challenge needed to support investment decisions, optimise performance and deliver sustainable growth.

This would suit a commercially minded qualified accountant who enjoys working with data, challenging assumptions and influencing decisions in a fast moving environment.

We would be interested in speaking with candidates who have built their commercial finance experience supporting internal stakeholders across Commercial, Sales or Marketing functions, where they have been able to demonstrate how finance can influence better business decisions.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Act as a trusted Finance Business Partner to senior operational and commercial stakeholders.
  • Provide clear insight into trading performance, identifying the key drivers behind results and translating these into actionable recommendations.
  • Partner with marketing and channel owners to understand the effectiveness of investment.
  • Evaluate marketing efficiency and returns using measures including ROI, lifetime value and payback.
  • Support strategic decisions around customer propositions, growth initiatives and investment opportunities.
  • Develop and challenge business cases and unit economics for new projects and strategic initiatives.
  • Undertake post-investment reviews to understand whether expected commercial returns have been delivered.
  • Identify emerging risks and opportunities and ensure these are understood by the appropriate leadership teams.
  • Support quarterly forecasting, budgeting and in month forecasting processes.
  • Deliver insightful analysis and commentary rather than simply reporting financial variances.
  • Work closely with Data and BI teams to improve the quality and usefulness of commercial reporting.
  • Help improve forecasting, reporting and decision-support processes across the business.
  • Review management accounts from a commercial perspective and challenge significant judgements where appropriate.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The common thread is your ability to get underneath the numbers and use financial insight to influence the people responsible for driving commercial performance.

You should be comfortable interrogating large amounts of performance data, identifying the handful of trends that really matter and communicating these clearly to senior financial and non-financial stakeholders.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • A track record of influencing senior stakeholders and constructively challenging business decisions.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to turn complex data into clear commercial insight.
  • Experience supporting investment decisions and building or challenging business cases.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis experience.
  • Commercial curiosity and the confidence to question assumptions.
  • The ability to operate effectively in a demanding, rapidly changing environment.

Why Consider It?

This is an opportunity to move beyond traditional finance reporting and operate as a genuine commercial partner.

You'll work alongside senior decision makers and have exposure to significant customer and marketing investment decisions, while supporting the development of propositions designed to drive future growth.

For someone who enjoys combining finance, data and commercial decision making, there is plenty here to get involved with from day one.
