Job Title: Finance Business Partner
Function: Finance
Location: Hybrid Worker – Expectation is two days per week on site at our Nottingham office
Contract type: 6 Month Fixed Term Contract
Salary: Offered on a starting salary of £56,476

NHS Supply Chain currently has an opportunity for a Finance Business Partner to join our team during an exciting period of transformation, working to make it easier for the NHS to put patients first.
We are looking for a highly analytical and commercially minded Finance Business Partner to provide expert financial support across the business. Acting as a trusted advisor to operational leaders and budget holders, you will help drive informed decision-making, improve financial performance, and support the delivery of strategic objectives.
You will be responsible for financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, reporting, and business case development, delivering meaningful insights that influence both operational and strategic decisions. The role also plays a key part in evaluating investment opportunities, undertaking financial modelling, and ensuring effective financial management of third-party contracts and services.

- Provide strategic financial business partnering and decision support to senior leaders and budget holders, offering insightful analysis, robust challenge, and recommendations that support operational and strategic objectives.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities, ensuring accurate financial projections, effective cost management, and alignment with organisational priorities and performance targets.
- Develop financial models and business cases to evaluate investment opportunities, support business growth initiatives, and enable informed decision-making through clear assessment of costs, benefits, risks, and return on investment.
- Deliver high-quality financial reporting and performance insights, analysing complex data sets to identify trends, risks and opportunities, and translating findings into actionable recommendations for stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships across the business and with external partners, influencing stakeholders at all levels to drive accountability, continuous improvement, and value-for-money outcomes.

We serve every NHS Trust and operate a national network of distribution centres, managing relationships with more than a thousand suppliers and delivering more than 8,000,000 orders each year to more than 17,000 locations. What skills will help you thrive in this role?
- Financial Analysis and Commercial Acumen: Ability to analyse complex financial data, identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and translate findings into practical commercial recommendations. This supports the role's responsibility for financial reporting, business performance analysis, and decision support.
- Business Partnering and Stakeholder Management: Strong relationship-building and influencing skills to work effectively with budget holders, operational leaders, and third-party providers. This enables the post-holder to provide trusted financial advice, challenge decisions constructively, and support the achievement of financial objectives.
- Financial Planning and Forecasting Expertise: Experience in budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, and scenario modelling as well as month-end requirements. These skills are essential for developing accurate financial plans, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring the organisation can effectively manage financial risks and opportunities.
- Financial Modelling and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to develop robust financial models and business cases to evaluate strategic initiatives, investments, and growth opportunities. This supports evidence-based decision-making and helps the business assess the financial impact of key decisions.
- Contract Management and Cost Control Focus: Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail when managing third-party contracts and supplier relationships. This ensures services are delivered cost-effectively, value for money is achieved, and financial performance is monitored and optimised.
