About The Role

What does the average day look like?

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

An average day involves partnering with finance and operational teams across Network Rail to support the delivery of efficiency targets. This includes analysing and consolidating data, managing efficiency reporting, providing assurance and challenge on submissions, and producing reports for key stakeholders.

The role also focuses on identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, sharing best practice, and supporting wider efficiency initiatives across Enhancements, OPEX, and Renewals programmes.

A Little Bit About The Team...

The Group Efficiencies team plays a vital role in helping Network Rail deliver value for money and demonstrate efficient use of public funding. As a small team of seven, they are responsible for managing efficiency reporting across the organisation, providing guidance and assurance on efficiency initiatives, and capturing and analysing reported savings.

The team works closely with stakeholders across Network Rail to share best practice, support continuous improvement, and help achieve key efficiency targets set out in the organisation's Delivery Plan.
