Finance Business Partner - Children & Education

Rate: Up to £750 per day (Umbrella)
Contract: 6 Months
Location: Bristol / 1 day onsite per week

Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Finance Business Partner to provide financial leadership across a large and complex Children & Education portfolio. This is a high-profile role supporting services that have a direct impact on the lives of children, young people, and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a high-performing finance team.
  • Deliver strategic financial advice and business partnering support to senior leaders and elected members.
  • Lead budget setting, financial planning, forecasting, and monitoring.
  • Produce financial analysis and performance reporting to support decision-making.
  • Drive financial sustainability and service transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure strong governance, risk management, and statutory compliance.
  • Support Children's Services, SEND, and Education transformation programmes.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and influence strategic decisions.

Person Specification

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Significant experience leading finance teams within a large and complex organisation.
  • Expertise in finance business partnering across large-scale budgets.
  • Strong stakeholder influencing and strategic decision-making skills.
  • Excellent analytical, commercial, and problem-solving ability.
  • Experience of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Full CCAB qualification (CIPFA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent).

Desirable Experience

  • Experience within Children's Social Care, Education, or SEND services.
  • Knowledge of Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) governance.
  • Experience supporting large-scale public sector transformation programmes.
