The Role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join NEXT’s Commercial Finance team as a Finance Business Partner, dedicated to supporting our Technology Development functions.

Working closely with senior Technology leaders, including Divisional Directors, you’ll play a key role in driving financial performance, strengthening cost control and maximising the return on our technology investments.

You’ll provide commercial insight across the full lifecycle of Technology Development spend, from budgeting and forecasting through to project accounting, financial reporting and the implications of capitalisation.

With a broad mix of FP&A, commercial analysis and senior stakeholder management, this is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional looking to broaden their experience and take the next step towards Finance Manager and beyond.

What You Will Take On

  • Business partnering – Build strong relationships with senior Technology leaders, providing financial guidance, challenge and support to help drive business performance and informed decision-making.
  • Cost control – Work closely with Finance and Technology teams to regularly review expenditure, provide constructive challenge and help stakeholders understand the financial impact of their decisions.
  • Budgeting and planning – Support our twice-yearly budgeting process, working with senior Technology leaders to develop accurate, commercially meaningful budgets and forecasts.
  • Commercial analysis – Provide insightful analysis to support key decisions, including contract renewals, vendor consolidation, volume consumption, licence optimisation, new investment and cost avoidance.
  • Project accounting – Review the end-to-end costs of Technology Development projects, continuously tracking expenditure and comparing actual spend against original expectations.
  • Expenditure consolidation – Provide a clear and consolidated view of Technology spend across Cash, Revenue and CAPEX, giving senior stakeholders a complete picture of financial performance.
  • Reporting and automation – Improve the quality, accessibility and efficiency of reporting through tools such as Power BI, planning systems and automation, reducing manual activity and enabling greater self-service.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
