Location: Swansea – Flexible Working Salary: Up to circa £50,000 (DOE)
The Opportunity
TSR Legal is delighted to be working with a leading law firm seeking to appoint an experienced and commercially focused Finance Business Partner.
This is a high-profile role offering the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and legal teams, helping to drive financial performance, improve decision-making, and support the firm’s continued growth. The successful candidate will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, commercial analysis, and audit management, while acting as a trusted adviser across the business.
The position would suit a qualified accountant who enjoys combining technical financial expertise with strategic commercial input and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process across the firm
- Partner with legal teams and department heads to provide meaningful financial insight and performance analysis
- Analyse key financial and operational metrics, including utilisation, recovery rates, WIP, billing performance, and profitability
- Produce and present clear, actionable management information to senior stakeholders
- Identify opportunities to improve financial performance, efficiency, and profitability
- Support pricing decisions and incentive scheme calculations
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely management accounts
- Lead the annual statutory audit process and act as the primary contact for external auditors
- Ensure robust financial controls, compliance, and audit readiness
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting, and business partnering activities
- Foster strong relationships between the finance function and operational teams

The successful candidate will be a confident and credible finance professional with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and contribute to commercial decision-making.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Minimum 2–3 years’ post-qualification experience
- Previous experience within a professional services environment
- Strong understanding of WIP, billing processes, and revenue recognition
- Demonstrable experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to translate financial data into practical business insight
- Experience working closely with senior stakeholders and leadership teams
- Knowledge of financial controls, compliance, and audit processes
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills
- Experience leading or managing external audit processes
- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements
