Role Description
The Finance Business Partner is a full-time, on-site role based at Northumbria University’s Newcastle campus. This role involves working closely with academic and professional service departments to provide financial insight, support decision-making, and ensure alignment with the university’s strategic objectives.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Developing and reviewing financial plans and budgets
- Preparing and interpreting financial reports
- Conducting analysis to identify risks and opportunities
- Collaborating with stakeholders to inform business planning
- Monitoring performance against targets
- Recommending corrective actions where needed
- Contributing to continuous improvement of financial processes
- Supporting forecasting activities
- Communicating complex financial information in a clear, accessible way
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Finance and Financial Reporting to support accurate budgeting, monitoring, and statutory/management reporting.
- Capabilities in Financial Planning and Business Planning to develop, review, and advise on budgets, forecasts, and strategic plans.
- Advanced Analytical Skills to interpret financial data, model scenarios, and provide actionable insights for decision-makers.
- Relevant professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience in a finance role, ideally within large or complex organizations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-specialists and build effective relationships.
- High level of numeracy, attention to detail, and proficiency in financial systems and Excel or similar tools.
- Ability to work proactively, manage multiple priorities, and contribute to continuous improvement in financial processes and controls.
- Experience in the higher education sector or other public/third sector environments is beneficial but not essential.
