Accountabilities:

The Finance business partner will work as an integral member of the Finance team to proactively identify, plan and meet the finance needs of GS1 UK. Supporting the Head of Finance, the Finance business partner will deliver insightful, accurate and timely management information to ensure budget owners, the senior management team and other stakeholders have the information required to manage their budgets and objectives. The role will include the preparation of budgets and forecasts as well as the monitoring of actual income, expenditure and capital spend against targets.

Key responsibilities:

Financial Advisory and Strategy

  • Provide strategic financial advice to department leaders to support planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with management to develop strategies that align with the company’s objectives.
  • Work with the Head of Finance and Finance analyst to develop, maintain and improve strategic and financial modelling and analysis.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Prepare and improve financial reports and dashboards, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
  • Monitor and analyse business performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure alignment with strategic goals.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into performance against budget and forecasts.
  • Collaborate with the Data team to integrate financial information into the business’s wider data and analysis processes, and leverage available data tools to improve visibility of financial performance across Finance and the wider business
  • Collaborate with the Finance operations manager to drive impactful monthly reporting as part of the business’ trading pack.

Budgeting and Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process for assigned business units, ensuring realistic and achievable financial plans.
  • Develop and maintain quarterly forecasts to provide an up-to-date financial outlook.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with department leaders, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Facilitate meetings with stakeholders to review financial performance and discuss strategic initiatives.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the finance function, and other departments.
  • Implement best practices for efficiency and effectiveness in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.

Project Involvement

  • Participate in or lead cross-functional projects, providing financial expertise and strategic insights.
  • Support business units in evaluating new initiatives, investments, and strategic projects.

Person specification:

Background and experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrable experience working with large data sets to deliver meaningful insights.
  • Knowledge of SAAS metrics.
  • Excellent IT and numerical skills, including the use of spreadsheets and databases.
  • Completed a recognised accounting qualification e.g. ACCA / CIMA.

Desirable

  • Experience working with Power BI or similar and producing dashboards.

  • Determined and task-orientated, ensuring results and objectives are achieved within agreed deadlines

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Is customer-focused: sets high standards in meeting customer needs.
