We currently have a vacancy for a Finance Business Partner to join our Corporate Services.

As a Finance Business Partner at West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA), you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of one of the UK’s most ambitious devolved regions. Working at the heart of strategic decision-making, you will partner with policy, programme and delivery teams to provide robust financial insight, support investment decisions, and ensure public funding delivers maximum impact for the people and communities of West Yorkshire. This is a highly visible role that combines commercial awareness, financial leadership, and stakeholder engagement across a diverse portfolio of transformational projects.

You will join a collaborative and forward-thinking Finance Business Partnering team that works closely with senior leaders, external funders, and investors to develop innovative funding solutions and drive organisational performance. The Role

Reporting into the Head of Finance, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing strategic financial business partnering support to policy, programme and delivery teams, helping to inform decision-making, challenge assumptions and ensure resources are aligned to organisational priorities.
  • Monitoring and managing budgets and forecasts, analysing financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and providing clear financial insight and recommendations to support effective financial management.
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, funding bodies and delivery partners, to support investment planning, funding opportunities and the successful delivery of strategic projects and programmes.

About You

You will have the following key skills, attributes, education, and experience:

  • Professional accountancy qualification (CCAB or equivalent), or significant finance-related experience.
  • Proven financial business partnering experience, including influencing decision-making, providing constructive challenge, and supporting senior stakeholders.
  • Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and performance reporting within a complex organisation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and present complex financial information clearly to finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Strong understanding of financial governance, risk management and value-for-money principles, supported by excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to translate complex information into practical recommendations and actions.
