Project Finance Business Partner
We're looking for a Project Finance Business Partner to join a well-established organisation in the middle of a major, multi-year transformation programme. They're now three years into a four-year overhaul designed to improve customer experience and streamline processes through new systems and smarter ways of working — and they're heading into the delivery phase of some key projects.
This is a great opportunity for someone who's comfortable getting stuck into a fast-paced change environment, with the gravitas to partner senior stakeholders and keep spend, controls and reporting on track.
The role:
- Department: Finance
- Reporting to: FP&A and Organisational Change Manager
- Location: Hybrid working from the London office in Canary Wharf
What you'll be doing:
- Acting as the go-to Finance partner for the PMO, project managers, and programme leads
- Owning month-end accounting for relevant projects — accruals, forecasts, variance analysis
- Keeping a close eye on project spend, checking it's in budget, and understanding the impact of SOWs and similar agreements
- Monitoring use of short-term/flexible resource so it doesn't overstay its welcome
- Pulling together consolidated reporting for different audiences, from Exec level to Project Board
- Modelling the financial impact of key initiatives — cost/benefit analysis, ROI appraisals
- Reviewing and challenging business cases and the assumptions behind them
- Helping shape investment decisions by modelling different scenarios
- Making sure project portfolio reporting ties back to the wider strategic goals
- Keeping a live register of financial benefits tied to strategic initiatives, feeding into forecasting/budgeting
- Working closely with the Change team to track benefits and cost savings across the business
- Picking up ad hoc project work as it comes up

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
