Job Summary
University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an exceptional Finance Business Partner - Income (External) to join our high-performing Finance Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in one of the UK's most complex and prestigious NHS organisations, helping to ensure the accurate reporting, recovery and planning of over £1bn of clinical income while supporting the delivery of outstanding patient care.
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Head of Finance - Income & Costing, you will provide expert advice on the NHS Payment Scheme, commissioner contracts and income recovery, while supporting annual planning, business cases and strategic financial decision-making. Working closely with senior finance, operational and commissioning colleagues, you will ensure robust income reporting, improve data quality and help maximise the Trust's financial performance.
Applicants must hold a CCAB qualification (or equivalent) and have significant experience in NHS finance, income management and commissioning. Strong analytical, leadership and stakeholder management skills are essential.
Full time and part-time applications will be considered. UCLH offers flexible working.

Person Specification
Essential
Knowledge and Qualifications
- CCAB or equivalent Qualification and current professional registration
- In depth specialist knowledge & expertise of the areas of NHS patient activity definitions, OPCS/ICD and Grouping rules, HRG's, national tariffs, and the associations and dependencies between these areas.
- Knowledge of the health economy e.g. commissioning gained through practical experience.
- Postgraduate management qualification or equivalent experience
Experience
- Significant experience at Senior Financial Management Level in an acute hospital within the NHS or other large complex multi professional organisation
- Significant experience in NHS income management and reporting
- Significant experience of health service finance and procurement systems
- Proven track record of sound financial management
- Knowledge of policy, legislation and strategic issues within the profession and across the NHS
- Experience of quality service and process improvement
- Experience of people management
Communication
- Advanced persuasion and negotiation skills
- Able to communicate with people at all levels of the organisation
Personal and People Development
- Ability to plan and manage conflicting priorities for self and department to meet Board & Trust objectives and deadlines
- Ability to manage staffing and HR issues
- Demonstrate strong professional leadership and act as a role model and mentor to other Finance staff
- Manage, motivate and develop direct reports to ensure that they are able to deliver their responsibilities
