About the Opportunity
We are working with a well-established and growing organisation to recruit an experienced Finance Business Partner to join their finance leadership team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded qualified accountant to partner closely with senior operational stakeholders, providing financial insight, challenge and analysis to support business performance and decision-making.
The successful candidate will have strong ownership of management information, budgeting and forecasting, while working closely with Managing Directors and operational teams to understand performance, identify opportunities and drive improvements across the business.
The Role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will act as a key finance partner to senior operational stakeholders, providing clear and commercially focused financial analysis across multiple business areas.
You will be responsible for understanding business performance, challenging assumptions and forecasts, and translating financial information into meaningful insight that supports operational and strategic decisions.
The role will also retain a strong technical finance element, including management accounts, financial controls, reconciliations and reporting, alongside opportunities to improve processes and develop the wider finance function.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted Finance Business Partner to Managing Directors and senior operational stakeholders.
- Provide clear financial insight and challenge to support commercial decision-making.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning across assigned business areas.
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts and branch accounts.
- Analyse financial performance, identifying trends, variances and key business drivers.
- Review gross profit, margins, productivity and other key commercial KPIs.
- Challenge forecasts and operational plans to ensure financial targets remain achievable.
- Support non-finance stakeholders in understanding financial performance and key metrics.
- Produce financial analysis and management information for senior leadership.
- Investigate performance issues and work with operational teams to identify corrective actions.
- Build strong relationships across the business and influence stakeholders outside of finance.
- Ensure robust financial controls, reporting processes and reconciliations are maintained.
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, automate processes and drive efficiencies.
- Support statutory accounts, audit and wider technical accounting requirements.
- Provide technical accounting guidance where required.
- Contribute to finance transformation projects and wider business initiatives.
- Support and develop members of the finance team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
