The Role
The Finance Business Partner supports the provision of financial support to one or more functional directorates. They will be at the heart of decisions, supporting the organisation to deliver on its business plan and corporate objectives. The Finance Business Partner will work within a team to provide strategic, value-adding financial insight and analysis to senior management and budget owners, enabling effective decision-making. As a key interface with the organisation, they work with the wider Finance and Governance team to coordinate the delivery of services across complex operational and capital portfolios. They will operate within governance and controls framework and will support efficiency and continuous improvement.
Role responsibilities
- Lead the preparation and delivery of financial plans, budgets and forecasts for assigned business areas, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organisational objectives and contribution to the development of actionable insights to inform business decisions.
- Contribute to the timely and accurate production and critical review of management information and accounts, financial analysis, and performance dashboards. Use analytical tools and techniques to identify trends, risks, and opportunities that support the achievement of business objectives.
- Partner with assigned business areas and cross-functional teams to provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations that support strategic and operational decision-making. This includes identifying and evaluating financial risks and opportunities, and communicating them appropriately.
- Partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to challenge assumptions, influence strategic initiatives, and ensure financial implications are fully considered in key business decisions and investment cases to ensure outcomes are value for money and in accord with the Business Plan and remit.
- Drive the development and implementation of cost-saving initiatives and process improvements, by challenging existing practices to deliver more efficiency and value.

Who we're looking for
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with demonstrable experience in business partnering or financial management within a complex organisation.
- High level of proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
- Demonstrable commercial acumen and ability to translate financial data into actionable business insight.
- Good interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships at all levels.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems.
- Good understanding of financial governance, control frameworks, and compliance requirements.
Welsh Language Skills
While not essential for this role, Welsh language skills would make a great addition to your application. TfW support anyone who wants to learn Welsh or improve their skills. We offer online learning, classroom courses, and funding attendance at local community courses.
