Are you a commercially curious accountant who wants to do more than report the numbers?

What if your next move gave you the opportunity to help shape how a growing business understands its performance, makes decisions and plans for the future?

Gifford & Partners are partnering with an ambitious, fast-growing, multi-site SME to appoint a Finance Business Partner into an evolving and increasingly influential commercial finance function.

This is a business that combines the ambition and opportunity of a growing national organisation with the supportive, people-focused culture of a family business. It values individuals, encourages development and gives its people the opportunity to make a genuine difference.

And this is where the opportunity becomes particularly interesting.

Rather than simply inheriting a well-established FP&A reporting role, you'll have the opportunity to help develop and strengthen the commercial finance capability of the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Working closely with the Financial Controller, CFO and operational leadership teams, you'll get under the skin of what drives performance, revenue, margins, costs, profitability and the decisions that influence them.

You'll combine financial planning and analysis (FP&A) with genuine finance business partnering, helping non-finance stakeholders understand their numbers and turn financial insight into meaningful commercial action.

What makes this opportunity stand out?

  • Genuine exposure to senior leadership and operational decision-making.
  • The opportunity to shape commercial reporting, forecasting, dashboards and financial models.
  • A growing, multi-site business where your analysis and recommendations can have a visible impact.
  • A supportive culture that encourages development, fresh thinking and career progression.
  • Hybrid working and a role offering considerably more variety than a traditional management accounting position.

Who would this suit?

Likely targeting an ambitious ACA, ACCA or CIMA/ACMA accountant, with strong management accounting, analytical or commercial finance experience.

You might currently be a Management Accountant, Finance Analyst, FP&A Analyst, Commercial Finance Analyst or Assistant Finance Business Partner, looking for the opportunity to develop your commercial influence and take the next step.

Experience in a multi-site environment would be advantageous, but what matters most is your analytical ability, commercial curiosity and confidence to build relationships beyond Finance.

If you enjoy understanding WHY the numbers move, rather than simply reporting WHAT has happened, this could be a very exciting next step.

For a confidential conversation, contact Dave Gifford at Gifford & Partners or apply to be shortlisted.
