Finance Business Partner
Birmingham | £70,000-£80,000 + Benefits | Hybrid Working
The Opportunity
We are working with a successful and growing business in Birmingham to recruit an experienced Finance Business Partner into its established finance team.
This is a high-profile, commercially focused position, offering the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and operational teams to influence business strategy, drive financial performance and support key commercial decisions.
The successful candidate will take ownership of financial planning, performance analysis and business partnering across key areas of the organisation. Acting as a trusted adviser to senior stakeholders, you will provide meaningful financial insight, challenge existing processes and identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency and overall business performance.
This role would suit a commercially minded, qualified accountant who enjoys working beyond traditional financial reporting and wants to play a genuine role in shaping business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Business Partnering: Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the business, providing financial guidance, commercial insight and constructive challenge to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead the budgeting, forecasting and financial planning processes, ensuring accurate, timely and meaningful financial information is available to support business objectives.
- Performance Management: Take ownership of monthly financial performance reviews, analysing actual results against budget and forecast, identifying key variances and providing detailed commentary on financial performance.
- Commercial Analysis: Deliver insightful financial analysis to identify trends, risks and opportunities, translating complex financial information into clear recommendations that drive business performance.
- Business Case Development: Support investment appraisals, capital expenditure proposals and strategic projects, providing robust financial modelling and commercial assessments to support investment decisions.
- Profitability & Cost Management: Work closely with operational and commercial teams to identify opportunities to improve margins, optimise costs, enhance operational efficiency and maximise profitability.
- Financial Modelling: Develop and maintain financial models to support scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, business planning and strategic decision-making.
- Stakeholder Influence: Challenge financial assumptions, influence business decisions and ensure financial considerations are embedded within operational and commercial strategies.
- Management Reporting: Develop and enhance management reporting processes, ensuring key stakeholders have access to accurate, relevant and actionable financial information.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting systems and controls, driving greater efficiency, accuracy and commercial visibility.
- Strategic Projects: Play an active role in supporting wider business initiatives, including transformation, growth plans, restructuring and other strategic projects as required.
- Continuous Improvement: Promote a commercially focused finance culture, encouraging accountability, financial awareness and data-driven decision-making throughout the organisation.

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an ambitious and commercially astute finance professional who combines strong technical accounting skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
You will ideally have:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification.
- Extensive experience in a Finance Business Partner, Commercial Finance or FP&A role, ideally within a complex or commercially focused organisation.
- A strong background in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and management reporting.
- Demonstrable experience partnering with senior stakeholders and influencing commercial and operational decisions.
- The ability to analyse complex financial information, identify key trends and present findings in a clear and commercially meaningful way.
- Strong commercial awareness, with a track record of identifying opportunities to improve business performance and profitability.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to challenge and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive and hands-on approach, with the ability to balance strategic thinking with detailed financial analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working with financial systems and reporting tools.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver accurate, high-quality financial information within tight deadlines.

- Salary: £70,000-£80,000 base salary, depending on experience.
- Location: Birmingham, West Midlands.
- Working pattern: Hybrid working, offering flexibility between home and office.
