Travis Perkins General Merchant is now hiring for a commercially minded Finance Business Partner to join our TPGM Finance team and help drive operational performance across the business.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll partner with operational leaders to deliver clear financial analysis, guide budgeting and forecasting and drive smarter commercial decisions.

The Opportunity
As Finance Business Partner, you will serve as a trusted financial advisor to non-finance operational leaders and the wider Finance team.
You will contribute to the month-end review process and review financial results, identifying discrepancies, trends, and key performance drivers, and highlighting performance against key targets. You will prepare and interpret regular financial reporting, providing clear commentary and insight to stakeholders. In addition to contributing actively to annual budgeting and rolling forecasts, you will conduct financial appraisals for business projects and investment proposals, as well as support with financial modelling within the relevant business areas.
Work Pattern
One day per week in our Head Office based in Duston, Northampton with additional ad-hoc meetings and branch visits as required.

What You'll Be Doing
- Month-End Delivery & Review: Contributing to the delivery of the month-end process and reviewing financial results, identifying discrepancies, trends, and key performance drivers. Preparing and interpreting regular financial reporting and providing clear commentary and insight to stakeholders.
- Commercial Insight & Trend Analysis: Analysing operational and financial data to identify underlying trends, risks, and opportunities, providing clear and actionable insight to support business performance.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Partnering with stakeholders across the business to build robust planning assumptions, reliable forecasts, and achievable annual budgets.
- Cost & Efficiency Optimisation: Interrogating cost structures to identify operational efficiencies and help leadership teams manage expenditure effectively.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Building strong relationships across different business functions, translating complex financial details into actionable advice for non-finance colleagues.
- Collaborative Finance Support: Working alongside fellow Finance Business Partners to share best practices, streamline reporting processes, and elevate finance support across TPGM.
Essential
About You
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (Graduate calibre).
- Proven track record gained within a commercial finance environment.
- Strong analytical skills with competent use of Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets and PowerPoint / Google Slides for analysing large data sets.
- Solid understanding of core accounting principles, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance metrics.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial data clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to manage shifting priorities and work effectively under pressure.

We'd Particularly Like to See
- Experience working within a multi-site merchant, trade distribution, or retail business environment.
- Practical familiarity with Google Looker / Looker Studio for data visualisation and reporting.
