Finance & Commercial Coordinator (Part-Time)

Location: Woking
Hours: 20–24 hours per week across 3 - 4 days
Salary: £35,000–£45,000 FTE, pro rata

The Role

We are looking for a bright, commercially minded finance professional to join a growing specialist consultancy in Woking. This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who enjoys working with numbers but also likes understanding the story behind them. You'll support the day-to-day finance function, take ownership of client billing and use financial and project data to help the business understand performance, profitability and where things could be done better.

The business has grown, and this role will provide additional capacity within finance while also bringing a fresh pair of eyes to existing processes and reporting.

It's a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety - one moment you might be working through the detail behind a client invoice, the next looking at the profitability of a project or finding a smarter way of presenting information in Excel.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Preparing and developing client invoices using timesheets, project information, rates and agreed billing arrangements
  • Reviewing financial and project data to ensure information is accurate and commercially sound
  • Monitoring project costs, revenue and profitability
  • Supporting forecasting and providing visibility of financial performance
  • Identifying trends, discrepancies and opportunities to improve efficiency
  • Using Excel extensively to analyse, manipulate and present financial information
  • Developing and improving spreadsheets, reports and processes
  • Working with the Accountant and wider team to ensure projects are accurately captured and billed
  • Producing useful financial information to support business and commercial decisions
  • Helping introduce greater structure and efficiency as the business continues to grow
  • Providing broader finance support where required

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About You

We're looking for someone who is comfortable operating across the detail and the bigger picture.

You don't necessarily need to come from a particular industry or follow a specific career path. What's more important is that you're numerate, commercially aware and genuinely confident with Excel.

You'll ideally bring:

  • Great all-round finance experience, including hands-on client invoicing
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with detailed financial data
  • Experience or understanding of forecasting, costs, margins and profitability
  • A logical and analytical approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail
  • Commercial curiosity - you want to understand why the numbers look the way they do
  • The confidence to question information and investigate discrepancies
  • An organised, proactive and intuitive working style
  • The ability to identify where processes could be improved or made more efficient
  • The flexibility to work across a varied finance workload

Experience within a project-based, consultancy, professional services or engineering environment could be particularly useful, but isn't essential.

The Opportunity

This is a newly created position within a successful specialist business that has experienced significant growth.

You'll work closely with the existing Accountant and wider team, taking ownership of key finance activities while also having the freedom to improve how information is captured, analysed and used.

For someone who enjoys being hands-on but doesn't want to spend their working week simply processing transactions, this offers an interesting balance of finance, commercial insight, problem-solving and process improvement.
