Finance Director
Are you seeking FD jobs or Finance Director jobs in Bicester, Oxford, Banbury, Aylesbury, Buckingham, or across Oxfordshire?
FD jobs role; 70 - 80 headcount technology business - growing SME - position created due to growth
- Business has recently invested £1.1m in new plant/equipment to help drive further R&D projects with blue chip engineering businesses
- Finance Director jobs role - we would also look at Financial Controllers / FC's who are seeking to make that step from an FC role into a FD jobs role / Finance Director jobs role
- Some work from home/hybrid available but mostly on site if possible. Salary TBC likely to be £100,000 - £115,000 but newly created role due to growth so salary is still TBC
We are working with an established and growing specialist engineering & manufacturing business based near Oxford/Bicester that is now looking to appoint a commercially minded Finance Director as part of the next stage of its growth.
This is not a traditional “keep the numbers ticking over” FD role.
The business has good fundamentals, a strong customer base, and has grown significantly over recent years. However, some of the infrastructure, systems, and processes have not kept pace with that growth.
The FD jobs opportunity is to come in and help change that.

The Finance Director jobs role overview
Reporting directly to the MD, you will become a key member of the senior leadership team/board of directors. The immediate priority is to modernise and strengthen the finance function, but the FD jobs role goes considerably wider than finance.

What are they looking for in this Finance Director jobs role?
We are looking for an FD who is commercially minded, hands-on, and comfortable with change. You may have come from a manufacturing environment, although manufacturing experience is not essential.
More important is that you can demonstrate:
- Strong commercial finance capability
- Experience operating at FD / Finance Director level, or potentially a strong FC ready for the step up into a finance director careers role
- Experience improving systems, processes, and ways of working
- An appetite for digital transformation
- The confidence to challenge and influence the MD and wider leadership team
- A pragmatic, hands-on approach
- The ability to turn ideas into action
- Strong communication and people skills
