Finance Director
Salary: c. £120k per annum
Location: York
About the Role
Inclusion Group is a social enterprise company with a national reach and substantive growth programme. Our mission is to provide flexible, innovative housing solutions in partnership with others to work with and on behalf of vulnerable people.
We are seeking a Finance Director to lead our finance, accounting, and treasury management service across the Group. You will help deliver our vision and future plans. You will need to possess proven management accounting leadership experience and qualification, be collaborative and organised, and be someone who can expertly lead our Finance Directorate and influence financial management and business planning as a company executive director to further develop and take forward this award-winning entrepreneurial business.
Overall, we need your commitment, teamwork, and ability to deliver. Exposure to a similar company of scale is desirable but not essential.
The Group turnover is set to reach £150M in 2025/26; the role has significant responsibility.

Responsibilities
- Act as Finance Director for the business and advise the Board on all finance and treasury management matters.
- To manage and initiate effective management in all business-related aspects for which the Director is responsible, including but not exclusively financial planning, business viability, achieving best value, quality of service within the resources available.
- As a member of the management team, ensure effective contribution to overall management and direction of the business in achieving its business strategy and objectives.
- To manage and initiate effective management and procedures and provide leadership in all business-related aspects of the work of the Business, in support of the overarching aim of delivering financial planning and viability, excellent performance, regulatory compliance, robust systems, and specifically:
- To manage the Business’s finance team.
- To manage the Performance Management approach.
- To advise the Executive and Board on key strategies, policies, and decisions in relation to finance, treasury management, and performance.
- To ensure that the Business has in place appropriate finance and treasury management policies and procedures to comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
- To interpret information and data to inform decision-making and enable planning.
- To ensure Finance and Performance Management planning supports the business plan, is accurately developed, and supports wider strategies across the business.
- Responsible for ensuring ongoing compliance with all legal, regulatory, and statutory requirements governing areas of responsibility, including data protection and financial regulations.
- To contribute effectively to the management of Inclusion in meeting its wider strategies, including risk management, equality and diversity, and health and safety.
- To effectively manage risk management, embedding the culture of risk management throughout the department.
- To promote excellent performance management, ensuring targets are achieved and services are consistently excellent.
- To develop and present appropriate and timely reports to Committee, Board, and Senior Management Team.
- To maintain and develop effective networks with relevant senior individuals internally and externally, both within the public and private sectors.
- To establish a high-performance culture, ensuring that a comprehensive performance management framework is in place.
- Develop a knowledge-based approach across the business to aid learning and better decision-making.
- To ensure the effective performance of those service areas that the post holder is responsible for and monitoring against business strategy, objectives, and policies; ensuring a comprehensive performance framework is in place.
- Lead and develop policies, plans, strategies, and reports as required to deliver the service’s aims and objectives.
- Attend internal and external meetings and participate in corporate teams to ensure complex tasks or projects are implemented, as and when required, including providing advice to service review teams.
- Lead on the development and implementation of service improvements and corporate initiatives to deliver innovative services that meet real need.
- Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post that is reasonably required by the Chief Executive.
- To undertake such other work as determined by Inclusion Group as being compatible with the responsibility level of this post.
