How you’ll power our business as a Finance Director

Role Reporting to the Finance Director of DCC Energy GB, the Finance Director for Flogas Britain is a pivotal leadership position dedicated to driving financial and strategic success. This role will spearhead finance transformation efforts by consolidating operations and creating synergies across the broader DCC Energy GB portfolio.

As a key partner to the Flogas Britain Managing Director, you will provide deep financial insight, manage a disciplined balance sheet, and champion financial & operational excellence while cultivating a high-performing team.

Here at Flogas, we may have a fossil fuels background, but we’re working towards delivering 100% renewable energy to our customers by 2040. We’re already supporting our customers to reduce their carbon emissions, by helping them make the switch from oil to gas. We’re also developing our offering for technologies such as heat pumps and solar panels, beginning to help our customers reduce their energy consumption and evolving new bio-fuels and renewable gases. Here’s what you’ll be doing

  • Act as a key advocate for the development and implementation of a best-in-class shared services platform for finance and related processes by supporting the migration of financial activities to Shared Services.
  • Work closely with the Flogas MD as part of the senior leadership team to plan, develop and implement business strategies which will grow the profitability of Flogas. Lead the budget and 3 year planning cycles.
  • Ensure Flogas Britain's financial reporting is to the highest standards and that monthly accounts preparation and reporting are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Drive profitability through sound commercial decision making and make a strong commercial and operational contribution to the Flogas business. Provide analysis to support pricing decisions and drive margin.
  • Foster a service-oriented culture within the finance function, positioning it as a trusted, value-adding business partner.
  • Build and develop a high-performing finance team with the skills and mindset to thrive in a transforming environment.

What we’ll need from you

  • Strategic yet execution-focused finance lead: able to translate vision and strategy into operational and financial impact.
  • Financial Transformation and Operational Excellence: Proven ability to lead and deliver large-scale finance transformation projects, including the implementation of shared services and the standardisation of processes across complex, multi-entity organisations.
  • Commercially astute with deep understanding of value drivers: specifically in relation to capital allocation, and cost optimisation.
  • Collaborative Influence: Works across functional boundaries to align stakeholders and inspire collective accountability. Builds trust quickly and communicates with clarity, confidence, and purpose. Able to influence boundaries through insight, data, and results.
  • Resilient and Adaptable in a Fast-Paced Environment: Ability to remain calm under pressure, pivot quickly in response to new information or challenges, and maintain a high level of performance and decision-making in a high-stakes, fast-moving environment.
  • Empowering Leadership: Ability to provide hands-on support and guidance when necessary while also fostering an environment where team members feel empowered to take ownership of their work, leading to high-performance and professional development.
