An exciting opportunity for a commercially minded Finance Director to join a successful owner-managed business and act as a trusted adviser to the Managing Director and leadership team

This role combines hands-on financial leadership with responsibility for supporting strategic decisions, business performance, systems improvement, and wider operational initiatives.

Client Details

Our client is a well-established owner-managed business operating within a fast-paced service-led environment as part of a wider group structure.

The business is seeking a commercially focused Finance Director to provide financial leadership, support strategic decision-making, and help drive continued operational and commercial performance.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role offers a rare opportunity to influence the direction of the business whilst leading finance and several key support functions.

  • Developing and delivering the financial strategy for the business
  • Leading budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning
  • Providing commercial insight and analysis to support decision-making
  • Producing timely management information, KPIs, and performance reporting
  • Managing cash flow, treasury, and working capital
  • Supporting profitability improvement and cost optimization initiatives
  • Maintaining robust financial controls, systems, and governance
  • Presenting financial performance and recommendations at board level
  • Leading a small finance team and overseeing wider business support functions
  • Managing relationships with external stakeholders including banks, auditors, and advisors
  • Supporting strategic projects and continuous improvement initiatives across the business

Profile

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with experience operating within an SME environment.

We Are Particularly Interested In Candidates Who Can Demonstrate

  • Strong management accounting and forecasting capabilities
  • Experience supporting senior leaders with commercial decisions
  • Ability to influence and challenge constructively
  • Strong cash flow and working capital management experience
  • Experience improving systems, processes, and reporting
  • Leadership experience within a fast-paced business environment
  • A hands-on and proactive approach

Previous experience within operational, distribution, logistics, manufacturing, industrial services, or similarly fast-moving environments would be advantageous.
