The Role

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, with a dotted reporting line to the Bettys Managing Director, you will be the primary finance business partner to the Bettys Leadership Team.

You will bring clarity from complex, sometimes conflicting information, by challenging assumptions constructively, identifying risks and opportunities, and helping leaders understand the commercial implications of their decisions. Your contribution will extend beyond financial stewardship and alongside your Bettys Leadership Team members, you will help shape strategy, strengthen organisational capability and ensure that Finance is a proactive and influential partner in delivering sustainable growth.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing a high-performing team culture characterised by accountability, curiosity, collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting leaders across Bettys and Group functions through an effective and responsive finance partnering approach.
  • Helping to shape and deliver the company’s growth strategy.
  • Overseeing the financial evaluation of opportunities and investments, including trade spend, promotional effectiveness and capital expenditure.
  • Providing insight into profitability, cost efficiency, working capital, cash flow and operational performance.
  • Developing robust business cases for significant investments and supporting effective resource allocation.
  • Partnering with F,P&A to lead business unit performance reviews and improve forecasting, variance analysis and business commentary.
  • Influencing cross-functional priorities such as sustainability, digital transformation and supply chain optimisation.
  • Contributing collectively to the Group Finance Leadership Team, helping to embed Group-wide finance strategy, ways of working and change.
  • Leading the Bettys Procurement team and ensuring effective connection between procurement, commercial decision-making and wider business priorities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
