The below role is a 6-month fixed term contract working on behalf of CorpAcq Stadium. Please note that the successful individual will be employed by the company and not Salford City Council.
About the role
This is a senior leadership role within the stadium, responsible for providing strategic financial leadership, strengthening financial management arrangements, and supporting the Stadium Director and Board to deliver the organisation’s priorities. The postholder will lead continuous improvement across finance systems, reporting and controls, ensuring resources are well planned, effectively managed and aligned to the company’s strategic direction.
In this role you will:
- Lead the planning, deployment and co-ordination of financial resources, ensuring company requirements, budgets and resource levels are clearly identified, monitored and controlled.
- Work closely with the Stadium Director, Board Directors, senior leaders, partners and key stakeholders to support business development, strategic planning and effective decision-making.
- Provide clear financial advice, analysis, reports, briefings and presentations to senior leadership, Board meetings and partner organisations.
- Ensure business planning, performance management, budget monitoring and financial reporting arrangements are effective, consistent and aligned to organisational priorities.
- Take lead accountability for implementing robust systems, procedures and controls that meet statutory requirements and support the proper application of corporate policies.
- Support the development of the stadium business plan, including options to maximise commercial revenue, broaden the stadium’s use as a multi-purpose venue and contribute to wider sport, leisure and community objectives.
- Review current arrangements for bookkeeping, financial reporting, purchase ordering, payroll and budgeting, making and implementing recommendations for improvement.

- Effective financial systems, procedures and controls are embedded across the company, supporting statutory compliance and a consistent approach to financial management.
- Financial strategy supports major initiatives, projects and business planning, including opportunities to strengthen commercial income and maximise the stadium’s use.
- The finance function is trusted, credible and valued by senior managers, partners and stakeholders as a source of professional advice, challenge and support.
- Diplomacy, negotiation and strong interpersonal skills are used to influence decisions and secure outcomes that are compatible with sound financial management.

What we need from you
- Experience of preparing, managing and monitoring significant revenue and capital budgets in a large or complex organisation.
- Strong technical finance skills, with a proven track record of delivering outcomes and providing sound professional advice.
- A clear understanding of relevant legislation, accountancy practice, financial governance and statutory requirements.
- Professional credibility gained through relevant experience and, ideally, an industry-recognised qualification.
- Confidence using financial systems and Microsoft Office products to support effective reporting, analysis and decision-making.
- Ability to work with services and stakeholders to develop strategies, improve performance and support business planning.
- Proven experience of building effective working relationships with external partners, clients and service providers.
- Strong relationship management skills, including the ability to support service delivery, resolve issues and maintain continuity.
- Experience of managing people, setting clear expectations and supporting strong performance.
- Ability to model the organisation’s values and leadership behaviours, acting with credibility, flexibility and professionalism.
- Experience in property, public venues or service-provider environments would be desirable.
- Willingness to attend events where required, recognising that this is a strategic role with some operational visibility.
