Finance Director – Enterprise
Location: Newbury / London
Reporting to: UK CFO & Group Finance Director
Team: 10+
The Opportunity
Our client is a high-growth, technology-led B2B services business with a substantial Enterprise division serving major corporate and public sector customers across the UK.
They are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Finance Director to lead finance for the Enterprise business and work closely with the Managing Director and senior commercial leadership team to drive profitable growth, improve contract economics and maximise financial performance. This is a highly commercial Finance Director role, with the successful candidate acting as a key member of the Enterprise leadership team and providing both strategic insight and robust commercial challenge.
The role will suit a Finance Director who is comfortable operating as the commercial number two to a senior MD, challenging established thinking and ensuring that growth is delivered alongside strong margin and contract discipline.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the Managing Director and senior leadership team to drive profitable growth across the Enterprise business.
- Provide rigorous commercial challenge around revenue, pricing, margin and customer profitability.
- Take ownership of the financial performance and economics of a complex, contract-led customer portfolio.
- Ensure commercial terms and contracts are structured to protect and maximise margin.
- Identify and address margin erosion across existing customer contracts.
- Drive greater value from contract change requests, ensuring additional work is appropriately contracted and priced.
- Provide commercial oversight throughout the contract lifecycle, from initial pricing and negotiation through to delivery and renewal.
- Challenge sales leadership to ensure commercial discipline and appropriate returns on new and existing business.
- Develop a detailed understanding of the underlying drivers of customer and contract profitability.
- Support the leadership team in identifying opportunities to improve pricing, cost-to-serve and overall margin.
- Assess the structure and effectiveness of the finance and wider business support teams, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Provide clear, data-led insight to support strategic and operational decision-making.
- Lead, develop and motivate a finance team of approximately 11–12 people.
- Work closely with the UK CFO and wider Group Finance leadership team on broader strategic initiatives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
