About the Role

This is an opportunity for a commercially driven Finance Director (FD) to join a growing branded business as a true strategic partner to the Managing Director, driving profitability, operational performance, and business growth. The successful candidate will combine strong financial leadership with a hands-on, pragmatic approach, using insight, process improvement, and commercial challenge to influence decision-making across the organization.

Client Details

Our client is an established brand-led business with a portfolio of premium products sold across UK and international markets. The company operates across manufacturing, sourcing, distribution, and retail channels, serving a loyal customer base and continuing to expand its market presence.

The business is entering an exciting phase of growth and is seeking a commercially focused Finance Director to join the leadership team and help drive performance across the organization.

Description

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Finance Director will play a pivotal role in shaping business performance, providing commercial insight, operational challenge, and financial leadership across the company.

This is a highly visible, hands-on position suited to an individual who enjoys being close to the business. You'll work alongside sales, operations, production, and warehousing teams, helping to improve decision-making, profitability, and accountability through clear reporting and robust processes.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Leading financial planning, reporting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Delivering timely and meaningful management information to support commercial decision-making.
  • Developing reporting around sales, margins, stock, cash, and operational performance.
  • Partnering with the leadership team to drive profitability and business improvement.
  • Supporting pricing, investment decisions, and commercial negotiations.
  • Improving business processes, controls, and performance monitoring.
  • Working closely with operational teams to identify efficiencies and performance opportunities.
  • Providing leadership across the business and acting as a key partner to the Managing Director.

Profile

We're seeking a commercially minded finance leader who combines strong financial discipline with practical business judgement.

You will be comfortable moving between the boardroom and the operational frontline, using data and insight to drive better outcomes and challenge decision-making where required.

Key Attributes Include

  • ACA, CIMA, ACCA Qualified.
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial leadership experience.
  • The ability to develop clear, practical, and actionable business reporting.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and process discipline.
  • A hands-on approach and strong operational credibility.
  • Experience improving processes, controls, and business performance.
  • The confidence and presence to influence at senior leadership level.
  • A pragmatic mindset with the ability to implement scalable solutions without unnecessary complexity.

Experience within manufacturing, consumer products, distribution, or another operationally focused business would be advantageous, but the ability to combine commercial thinking, financial rigour, and leadership is more important than sector background.
