Are you a commercially minded Finance Director who wants to be genuinely embedded within a high-growth business rather than simply leading a finance function?
Do you thrive in fast-paced, private equity backed environments where strategic influence, operational involvement and value creation sit at the heart of the role?
This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Finance Director to join a dynamic, multi-site retail-led business entering an exciting phase of growth, transformation and acquisition activity.
The business is looking for a high-calibre Finance Director who can operate as a true partner to the CEO and senior leadership team, helping shape strategy whilst leading and developing a capable finance function.
You will play a pivotal role across commercial decision making, M&A activity, operational performance and driving a clear value creation agenda across the business.
The Opportunity
- Lead and develop the finance function, creating a high-performance and commercially focused team
- Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board, providing insight and challenge to support key business decisions
- Work closely with the CEO, Board and PE sponsor to identify, develop and execute value creation initiatives that improve business performance and enterprise value
- Drive financial performance, cash management and business planning, with a clear focus on improving EBITDA and cash generation
- Identify opportunities to improve margins, profitability, working capital and operational efficiency
- Support and lead M&A activity including acquisitions, integrations and investor processes
- Provide commercial insight to support growth initiatives, pricing decisions and operational improvements
- Translate financial and operational data into actionable recommendations that drive performance
- Build strong relationships with lenders, investors and external stakeholders
- Deliver robust reporting, forecasting and financial controls within a fast-paced environment
- Support the wider leadership team in driving operational and commercial performance
- Help shape and execute the long-term strategic growth and value creation plan

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
