Finance Director for Family Office
I am searching for a Finance Director for a highly entrepreneurial, first-generation private family office based in Central London.
The Role
This is an unusually broad role combining senior financial leadership with genuine, hands-on investment involvement. The successful candidate will join the family board and Investment Committee and work closely with the founder, the next generation, Head of Family Office and investment professionals.
The investment portfolio spans public and private markets, with an increasing focus on direct minority investments in founder-led UK growth businesses. The Finance Director will be closely involved in sourcing, due diligence and the ongoing financial management of these investments, alongside responsibility for financial reporting, control, liquidity, investment accounting and the management of a small finance team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Qualifications
I am particularly interested in individuals who combine:

- Genuine investment understanding and direct investment experience.
- Experience across both public and private investments.
- Knowledge of private equity/fund structures, capital calls, distributions and NAV reporting.
- The commercial judgement to evaluate companies as investments, rather than simply account for them.
- Experience gained within a family office, investment office, private equity environment, investment manager, fund or similarly sophisticated investment organisation.
