An established, successful UK business in the West Midlands, with a strong market position, and a differentiated model spanning rental, service, and solution-based offerings. The organisation has delivered a consistent track record of profitability and cash generation. They are part of a larger international group, which operates a decentralised model bringing many benefits, including highly accountable management teams. This represents an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused Finance Director (FD) to play a key role in shaping the next stage of the organisation’s development, and with genuine autonomy, accountability, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on business performance.
THE ROLE
For this Finance Director (FD) opportunity in the West Midlands you will be working closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team. The Finance Director will be responsible for leading the finance function and contributing to the overall strategic direction of the business. Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director and Board on all financial and commercial matters
- Supporting the development and execution of growth strategies, business plans, and capital allocation decisions
- Leading the budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning processes
- Providing robust financial analysis and insights to drive business performance and profitability
- Ensuring strong financial governance, controls, compliance, and risk management frameworks
- Overseeing the production of management accounts, board reporting, cash flow management, KPIs, and statutory reporting
- Leading both the finance team and the IT function

CANDIDATE PROFILE
For this FD opportunity in the West Midlands, you will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post qualification experience. Ideally you will have experience of working at an FD level and being part of an operating board. They are also open to considering candidates looking to make that first step up into a FD position. The role requires a well-rounded finance leader, who is commercially and operationally focused as well as technically competent. Contracting or rental sector experience is desirable. Must have a good balance of strategic vision and a hands-on operating style. A successful track record of managing and developing high performing finance teams will be important. You will also be responsible for IT. The role also requires a strong relationship builder with personal credibility, and high impact communication and presentation skills. You must be able to work at all levels and influence wider business direction and decisions. It is also important that you can demonstrate the strength of character to challenge, whilst being able to do so in a collegiate and considered manner. ERP system experience (ideally including an implementation)
