Cooper Parry Finance Recruitment has been engaged by our client based in Aberdeen City Centre to appoint a Finance Executive on a part-time, permanent basis. Working 21 hours per week (across 3-5 days), this is an excellent opportunity to join an exciting organisation that plays a key role in driving economic growth and innovation across the North East of Scotland.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the operational finance and management accounting activities. You will take ownership of the monthly management accounts, supporting budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and day-to-day financial operations. This is a hands-on role offering exposure to commercial property finance, tenant billing, statutory accounts and audit support, while providing the opportunity to contribute to process improvements and the adoption of new technologies, including AI tools.

The Opportunity

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely delivery
  • Post journals, accruals, prepayments and other period-end adjustments
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts including bank, debtor, creditor and service charge balances
  • Provide financial performance commentary to support the Finance Manager and leadership teams
  • Prepare annual budgets and regular forecasts covering rental income, property costs and overheads
  • Produce variance analysis against budget and forecast with clear explanations of key drivers
  • Support operational management in understanding financial performance and the implications of commercial decisions
  • Assist with the preparation of annual statutory accounts
  • Prepare year-end working papers and audit schedules
  • Support the annual statutory audit process and respond to auditor queries
  • Manage tenant billing, including rent, service charges and other recharges
  • Maintain the sales ledger, monitor aged debt and follow up outstanding balances
  • Process supplier invoices and maintain purchase ledger records
  • Maintain and reconcile service charge records
  • Reconcile bank accounts and investigate discrepancies promptly
  • Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation
  • Maintain accurate and confidential financial records in line with data protection requirements
  • Support the organisation's adoption of AI tools and identify opportunities to improve processes through technology

Background and Experience

Essential

  • Recognised accounting qualification, currently working towards one or relevant experience
  • Experience preparing management accounts, including journals, accruals and prepayments
  • Budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis experience
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

Desirable

  • Experience within a property, lettings or service charge environment
  • Experience producing statutory accounts
  • Understanding of commercial property income, service charges and recharges
  • Previous exposure to audit processes
  • Confidence using AI tools or a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies
