ROLE OVERVIEW

As our business continues to grow internationally, we're looking for an experienced, commercially minded Finance Executive to establish and lead our finance function. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-growth agency and build the financial infrastructure that will support our next phase of expansion.

Initially, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring robust financial management, accurate reporting and healthy cash flow.

As the business grows, you'll be responsible for building out the finance department, implementing scalable financial processes and controls, and becoming a key strategic partner to the leadership team.

The successful candidate will enjoy creating structure, improving efficiencies and building best-in-class finance operations within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial business.

Key Responsibilities

Finance Operations

  • Maintain accurate daily bookkeeping across all business transactions.
  • Build, maintain and manage company Profit & Loss (P&L) reporting.
  • Develop and manage rolling cash flow forecasts and cash management trackers.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and financial records.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial data.

Client Billing & Accounts Receivable

  • Create, issue and reconcile client invoices accurately and on time.
  • Liaise with internal departments to ensure invoicing reflects agreed deliverables and commercial terms.
  • Monitor outstanding invoices and proactively manage payment follow-ups.
  • Resolve invoicing queries with both clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain strong credit control processes and debtor reporting.

Expenses, Procurement & Accounts Payable

  • Track and reconcile company expenses.
  • Manage supplier invoices and payment schedules.
  • Oversee equipment procurement and company purchasing.
  • Maintain accurate records of company assets and purchases.
  • Ensure purchasing follows internal approval procedures.

Payroll & External Finance Partners

  • Prepare monthly payroll information for submission to our third-party payroll provider.
  • Ensure payroll data is accurate, complete and submitted within required deadlines.
  • Act as the primary finance contact for our external payroll administrators.
  • Liaise closely with our external accountants to support the production of monthly management accounts, year-end accounts and statutory reporting.
  • Provide timely financial information and supporting documentation as required.

Reporting & Commercial Finance

  • Produce weekly financial performance reports for senior leadership.
  • Prepare monthly management reporting packs and KPI dashboards.
  • Deliver quarterly Board reports, providing meaningful commercial insight and recommendations.
  • Monitor business performance, identify financial risks and highlight opportunities for improvement.

Finance Function Development

  • Build and develop the company's finance function as the business scales.
  • Design, document and implement robust finance processes, procedures and internal controls.
  • Improve financial systems, reporting accuracy and operational efficiencies.
  • Introduce scalable finance policies to support continued international growth.
  • Work closely with leadership to improve commercial decision-making through high-quality financial reporting and analysis.

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and financial regulations.
  • Manage VAT reporting, including a strong understanding of cross-border VAT implications for clients across the UK, EU and United States.
  • Support audit and year-end accounting processes.
  • Ensure strong financial governance and appropriate internal controls are maintained.

Future Growth of the Role

As the business continues to scale, the Finance Executive will take on increasing commercial finance responsibilities, including:

  • Leading the annual budgeting process.
  • Developing rolling financial forecasts.
  • Scenario modelling and commercial analysis.
  • Departmental budgeting and spend management.
  • Working with Directors on strategic financial planning.
  • Supporting investment decisions and business growth initiatives.
  • Building and managing a wider finance team as the company expands.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience managing financial operations within a growing business.
  • Strong bookkeeping and management accounting experience.
  • Experience producing P&L reports, cash flow forecasts and management reporting.
  • Excellent understanding of UK accounting standards and financial controls.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK VAT, including cross-border VAT treatment involving UK, EU and US customers.
  • Experience managing invoicing, credit control and accounts payable.
  • Experience working alongside external accountants and payroll providers.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets skills.
  • Strong analytical ability with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with stakeholders across all levels of the business.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, scale-up environment.

Desirable

  • Experience within a marketing agency, e-commerce, digital or technology business.
  • Experience with international and multi-currency transactions.
  • Experience using Xero, QuickBooks or similar cloud accounting software.
  • Experience implementing finance systems, controls or process improvements.
  • Knowledge of TikTok Shop, e-commerce marketplaces or the creator economy.
