The role manages portfolio budgeting, forecasting and reporting; coordinates project sanction, contracting and regulatory reporting; and maintains clear visibility of project performance and benefits from idea through to implementation. Working across Innovation, Finance, Legal, Procurement and project teams, the role provides accurate analysis, robust assurance and practical improvements to the systems and processes that enable successful innovation delivery.

  • Coordinate innovation funding and regulatory reporting, including Regulatory Reporting Pack submissions and annual Ofgem requirements.
  • Manage the governance and sanction process for innovation projects, ensuring submissions are complete, evidence-based and progressed in line with delegated authorities.
  • Coordinate commercial and legal activities for innovation projects, including purchase orders, contracting requirements, invoicing and milestone tracking, acting as the key interface with Procurement, Legal, external advisers and delivery partners.
  • Assure cost-benefit assessments completed by the project leads and maintain portfolio-level visibility of project outputs, benefits and value realisation from initial idea through to implementation and subsequent tracking in coordination with the Innovation Implementation team.
  • Support effective project change control by working with project leads to identify financial, delivery and governance risks, assess impacts and escalate issues where required.
  • Own and maintain the Innovation governance system, ensuring portfolio information, controls and audit evidence are accurate, current and accessible.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
